Today, sunday 16 April, we went by taxi to Khlong Lat Mayom Floating market..30 min drive from our hotel in Sukhumvit.
There are several Floating markets in Bangkok, that are active at different time or on different days of the week, and more or less distant from city center. This one was the most convenient to reach. A bit crowded, mainly by Thai tourists, not that many westerners.
Part of the Floating market is build on stilts, where small merchants sale a multitude of diverse cooked food , fruits. Few merchants are sitting in their small wood canoes, on which they sell vegetables, or cook small dishes.
For 200 bahts, we made a 10 km tour by boat navigating through the network of water canals, during about 2 hours. Small stops allowed visiting an orchid farm, and another small market.
On the way back, a stop in Siam Paragon, one of the big mall in Bangkok.
Traditional music band, and new celebration ritual embellished our visit.
After a short nap in the hotel (Abel felt deeply asleep, and was difficult to wake up), we headed to Bayioke sky hotel, the highest sky tower of Thailand, reaching more than 300m,slightly higher than the Eiffel tower.
Very nice view of Bangkok by night from a rotating platform on the last 85th storey, at > 300m.high.
Copious diner on 78th floor restaurant, from buffet of seafood, wagyu steack, Japanese sushi and samiri, variety of cakes and tropical fruits...
Way back to the hotel by tuk-tuk...
