Malaysia - day 4, 1st of May: Penang

Very nice surprise when waking-up in the morning to discover the view from our hotel room on the 7th floor of Bayview beach resort: Blue sea, green forested mountains, coconut trees along the beach, swimming pool...it really feels as in vacation.

The breakfast buffet is nice, but quite busy with lot of Chinese tourists.

First thing was to look for a car rental agency. The ones indicated on Google map, only 100m from our hotel, has apparently not survived the covid-19 period and lack of tourists. The owner put the key under the door. We took a grab to Georges Town, but were shortly informed that all car rentals are fully booked up to May 6 , during the Eidh vacation. No chance to find a car...

We walked a bit un Georges town, looking for a church for Sam. All churches ( the 3b we passed by) had their doors closed.

Visit of Little India and lunch in the crib restaurant. No beer available 😢

We continued the afternoon by the visit of Pinang Penranakan Mansion, an old mansion hold by Chinese rich merchants and completely renovated. Classified at the UNESCO world heritage.

We then walked up to the Chew Jetty, along small streets.

The Chew Jetty big bowl noddle, a Chinese restaurant serving chinese soups seem to be very popular, given the long the queue of people waiting and the nice smell. Presumably nice to try on another occasion.

Diner in hard Rock cafe, Tom Yam soup, excellent.

And up the day by a foot massage.
